Luc van den Hauwe, MD, is a neuroradiologist, working in the Department of Radiology of the Antwerp University Hospital, Antwerp/BE and at a General Hospital in the north of Antwerp (AZ KLINA, Brasschaat/BE). He graduated “magna cum laude” as MD from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Antwerp, Antwerp/BE, in 1989. He is a board-certified radiologist since 1995.

His main fields of interest within Neuroradiology include advanced MR imaging techniques such as diffusion and perfusion imaging in brain tumors, vessel wall imaging, and toxic/metabolic disorders (including illicit drug abuse). Other areas of expertise include multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and spinal imaging, always with a focus on the introduction of novel techniques into clinical practice.

Dr. van den Hauwe is author or co-author of over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers and more than 15 book chapters. For his research on “The Role of MRI (in vivo and in vitro) in Brain Tumors,” the University of Antwerp awarded him the prize “Upjohn 1994”.

He is an active member of many scientific societies and organizations. He has been active as a teacher at numerous national and international scientific meetings organized by the European Congress of Radiology (ECR), European Society of Neuroradiology (ESNR), European Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology (ESMRMB), and courses such as the European Course of Neuroradiology (ECNR), European School of Radiology (ESOR), and the Erasmus Course on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (EMRI).
