Dr. Claudia Kirsch is a Professor of Neuroradiology at the Yale Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging in Neuroradiology, and Fellow in the American College of Radiology (ACR), and American Society of Functional Neuroradiology (ASFNR), and the Neuroradiology Clerkship Director, Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Kirsch obtained a B.A. in both Neuroscience and Fine Arts, graduating Cum Laude, from Amherst College in 1986, and Alpha Omega Alpha from Medical School in 1991. I received lifetime Board Certification in Radiology in 1996, completed Neuroradiology Fellowships, and Board Certification in Neuroradiology in 1998, Maintenance of Certification in 2008, with all certifications up to date. Currently, Dr. Kirsch is completing her PhD Thesis research with neopath.org at University of Sheffield School of Clinical Dentistry on “Viral mediated disease in the skull base, head and neck”, utilizing high resolution 7T MRI at Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Institute (BMEII) at Mount Sinai Medical Center and artificial intelligence to understand how viruses affect the skull base with advisors Dr. Khurram PhD, Professor Lambert Ph.D. and at 7T MRI BMEII Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai under Priti Balchandani PhD, Professor and Director Advanced Neuroimaging Research Program.
Dr. Kirsch received the American Society of Neuroimaging Oldendorf award for MRI 2COSY of spinal cord trauma, and prior numerous research and teaching awards, including international accolades, and the Europrix Multimedia Prize for Primal Pictures Interactive 3-D Anatomy of the Head and Neck. In 2024, Dr. Kirsch was elected to the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS) Executive Committee and Board and Board of the Yale Whitney/Cushing Library. She is on the Editorial board of Clinical Imaging, Journal of Skull Base Neurosurgery, Frontiers, and received an RSNA Editor’s Award with Distinction in 2019 and Editors Recognition Award in 2023. Dr. Kirsch has served on multiple Educational, Program, Research and Value Based Healthcare Committees for the ASNR, ASHNR, ASFNR, AAWR, NASBS, RSNA and AUR, and as Past President of the Eastern Neuroradiological Society (ENRS). Dr. Kirsch is a former Vice-Chair of Expert Panel on Neuroimaging for American College of Radiology (ACR) Appropriateness Use Criteria Committee, and American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) Collaborative Committee for Practice Parameters in Computed Tomography of the Head and Neck. In 2023, Dr. Kirsch was elected Senior Member at Large to the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology (ASHNR) Executive Committee and has Chaired the ASHNR Research Committee.
