Maria received her medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. She is a graduate of Jackson Memorial Hospital-University of Miami Radiology Residency program and completed her Neuroradiology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School, with successive appointments as Chief Resident and Chief Fellow. She previously worked at NYU Langone-New York University where she held the title of Associate Fellowship Director for the Neuroradiology division. Dr. Borja is currently part of the Neuroradiology division at University of Miami, where she serves as the Wellness and Quality liaison for the section and leads the department’s Global Health initiative. Her main interests include functional MRI, demyelinating disease and Global Health.
