Dr. Mariam Aboian is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and currently serves an attending neuroradiologist at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She received a dual MD/PhD degree from the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, followed by radiology residency and subspecialty fellowship training (neuroradiology and nuclear medicine) at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Aboian’s background training and clinical experience is focused on neuroimaging of primary brain tumors and metastatic cancer to the brain. The focus of her research is to identify imaging biomarkers that predict tumor type, tumor molecular signature, and patient outcomes in adult and pediatric brain tumors. To achieve this, Dr. Aboian uses a multimodal approach to study brain cancer, including MRI, radiomics, molecular imaging with positron emission tomography (PET), and hybrid PET/MRI.
